Enrichment Programming
Open the door to new skills, interests, and passions with our wide-ranging, play-centered enrichment programming. At the Y, we enhance our before and after school care spaces with special interest enrichment that engages youth with STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math), targeted physical activity, and other skill building that build toward academic success. Enrichment programming offerings vary by site.

At the Y, we know that play shouldn’t have to end just because school isn’t in session. Our YMCA Camps and School Days Out programming offer full days of activity that give youth space to stretch their legs and their imaginations. We offer a wide range of programming that keeps your kid’s brain and body active year-round — from arts and crafts to sports and games. Learn More(Opens in a new window)Celebrating Individuality
Every child is raised in a unique community, culture, and family. At the Y, that is not only celebrated — it’s nurtured. We encourage children to develop an awareness of human diversity and to appreciate and accept the differences in others. Regardless of the program, our dedicated staff ensures children are developing the values, skills and relationships that lead to positive behavior, better health, and greater educational achievement.
How It All Began
Over thirty years ago, the YMCA made a firm commitment to supporting the health and wellness of all children in the Naperville and Aurora communities. The programs we design are geared towards engaging kids in fun activities that foster a desire to learn. Since the beginning of Safe ‘n Sound, our dedicated staff members have focused on encouraging our youth to develop values, skills, and friendships that lead to positive behavior, better health, and educational achievement.
Help Continue Our Legacy
We believe that all children should have the opportunity to discover who they are, express their creativity, and learn how to accept and appreciate the differences in others. The YMCA Safe 'n Sound program hopes to be a safe and nurturing environment for these key moments of youth development for years to come.
It is only through the support and help of those who believe in our mission that we are able to carry on this important work. With your help, we can continue to keep Safe 'n Sound a program where children develop a brighter future for themselves and their families.

Yes! As part of the Schools Day Out programming, we offer Heat/Snow Days when school is canceled by School District 203 or 204 due to weather. When there is extreme weather, we evaluate if staff, as well as participants, can arrive safely and provide a program.
If the school district elects to have a full remote learning day, YMCA staff will help support their remote learning. If your child is participating in this activity, please ensure they bring their devices, chargers, and a headset.
If the school district decides to have a non-school day, our staff will implement engaging activities, such as crafts, active games, and other fun activities. If your child is participating in these activities, please dress them in comfortable clothing and bring appropriate snow clothes: boots, gloves, hat, and a scarf.
All participants should bring a sack lunch and drink, and the YMCA will provide an afternoon snack.
Registrations are accepted on the day school is canceled. Space is limited. The YMCA Safe ‘n Sound program office opens at 6 a.m. to accept phone registrations the day school is canceled. Payment is due at the time of registration.
